Introducing: Bongo the Animatronic Gorilla costume!
Styled after the African mountain gorilla, Bongo has 2 head options. The non-animatronic “Stunt” head suitable for higher impact or distant shots has basic jaw movement. The animatronic “Closeup” head has 8 servos which move the eyes L/R, blink, eyebrows, mouth open/close and 4 way lip snarl. There are 2 arm options- Gloved hands allow grasping objects while arm extensions allow walking on all-fours.
Bongo is an intensive suit which requires a dedicated team of 3 to properly assemble and operate. The suit does not have an internal cooling system so adequate on-set cooling & ventilation is required at all times while in-suit.

The Animatronic Bear Studios team traveled to Mexico City to film with our most complex animatronic suit: Bongo the Gorilla. A wonderful client and a professional team of support staff made working this project in the heat of Covid restrictions not only painless – even enjoyable. Over 2 days we filmed variety of video and stills for a multi-media campaign spanning television and internet media outlets. The client provided us with a endless supply of the product which helped tremendously.
